Description

Presentation: wine obtained mainly from Montepulciano grapes and other local grapes. The vineyards are cultivated with the Guyot pruning system from below which allows for a higher wall, thus benefiting the vines with a better active leaf surface and thus obtaining a better quality of grapes. The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in small baskets, immediately transported to the cellar, destemmed and softly pressed and sent to ferment in thermo-conditioned stainless steel tanks. The racking is carried out after the alcoholic fermentation has concluded. In December, once the malolactic fermentation is completed, the wine is transferred into small oak barrels, medium toasted, of different ages where it is left to mature for a year and then bottled. The company : the winery “Cantina la Spina” by Moreno Peccia was born with the aim of best combining the ancient local vocation in the cultivation of vines with the current winemaking techniques so as to enhance the quality of the products. The vineyards are located among the rolling hills in the locality of La Spina, in the municipality of Marsciano, not far from Perugia with clayey soil rich in limestone, at about 300 meters above sea level, with an East-West exposure.
